Time to play catch up . . . .

Ok, so you know when you start getting e-mails, its time to put more pictures on the blog! My Etsy shop has actually been keeping me really busy the last couple months (who knew?), but Marshall is busy with Elmo and Austin is busy with Elmo, so here we go. A bajillion posts! Ok, maybe 5.
One funny night in January, Marshall decided to show off for the camera! This is his favorite drawer in the kitchen. He also enjoys climbing in the dishwasher, but Mom is kind of grouchy about that one.
Sometimes Marshall just wants to be his daddy! Notice how messy my room is? Guess who likes to open Mommy's dresser and throw all her clothes on the floor and then lay on them. No, not Austin!

I'm eating Dots right now

Really, I am. Being pregnant makes me LOVE these things!

I didn't really believe that a baby in the womb that doesn't make noise would keep me up at night. Now I do. It's sometimes that I can't sleep, but usually that I am uncomfortable. It's starting to get cramped in there . . . and we still have a few more inches to grow and a good 5 or 6 pounds to add onto that baby! Wish me luck.
Frogs it is! We "de-girlified" the nursery on Saturday. No more cute ribbon curtains and flower wall clings. It's getting a little bit manly in there for our little guy.
It was such a busy weekend! We did our usual shopping with the family and we got nephew duty. This is him . . . trying to score his favorite beverage, apparently.

Here he is again! His parents HATE garden gnomes, so Ozzy loves 'em. Here's our guy, loving that gnome we decided to buy! He was kissing it and holding it with a death grip. The only down side to our munchkin adventure is that that boy is SURE he's supposed to call my Ozzy daddy. We'll work on it . . . .
We set up the dresser for the baby, and our new computer, and our lawn mower. We even used it! My mother-in-law got us some solar yard lights for mother's day, which we had fun putting up at like 10:00 last night. We are crazy. What did Ozzy score me for mom's day? A polka dot diaper bag, for reasons known to those who have seen my wardrobe, and the movie Juno. Woo hoo!
I guess that's all I have to say. One of these days I'll look presentable and be unbusy and take a picture of that belly, but at least I put SOME pictures on, right?

Homecoming!

My sister-in-law FINALLY brings her baby home today. She was released from the hospital Monday, which means she's been getting up early and sitting in the hospital lobby all day, going in to check on her baby and feed him when they let her, and going home late at night. I told Ozzy that this is why we will be patient, uncomfortable, and rather round and WAIT until it's go time to have our baby! He had jaundice. This is not uncommon for new boys, but he had it when he was less than 24 hours old, and that makes them worried. He was under special lights all week. Then he got a blood infection. I guess this is one of the leading causes of SIDS, so good thing they found it and treated him. He was three weeks early. The doctor thought he'd be BIG, but he wasn't at out of the normal range. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 11 oz. and measured 20.5 inches. Crazy. If our baby is fitting into the standard curve, he's already over 2 lbs. and 14.5 inches! We have a hunch he might be a little on the big side. We were both big babies, Me almost 9 lbs and him a little over, and I've been measuring ahead. We'll know more on Tuesday. That's our next appointment. Woo hoo! I have to take the diabetes test. Salad for lunch and then a big sugar drink before we go in. It should be interesting!

Took my class on a field trip yesterday. The museum did lots of presentations and projects with them, but I still went home sleepy as can be. Weird.

I keep running into stuff with my belly. It's growing faster than I can get used to it, so I'm always surprised when I can't fit though a tight spot, put on my socks, wear a shirt, or balance on something. I'm like a rolly polly little buddah girl.

The stench of rhododendrons

Once upon a time . . . ok, nine years ago . . . I was convinced by a guidance counselor to give speeches and try to become local festival royalty to win a scholarship. I somehow was convinced that this wasn't a "pageant" until we had to wear pretty dresses and practice walking. Then I figured it out.

Anyhow, I did that gig . . . got to be "Miss Congeniality" and nothing more. It was a little nuts, considering all the work I had to do. There was a lot of talk about who should have won and why this girl did and who that girl's grandma was . . . it got to be messy enough that the organization of pink coats kicked out the president and their biggest sponsor over possible bribery. Did I want a recount? Did I want to rip the crown from the first rhody queen's great niece's head? Nah. I was busy getting ready for college. It was unfortunate, unfair, and normal small town politics. 8 years later, my cousin Dana tries to be the queen . . . and wins! She is one happy girl and we all take this as a sign that the organization has their act together and this festival may not be doomed to politcal junk forever.

Unfortuately, they are doomed to grasping for free publicity. About a month ago, Dana handed her crown to the new queen after a year of driving, parades, freezing, and loving that silly plastic crown. Early this week the pink coats called to inform her that she was being "dethroned". She isn't even the queen anymore, but they wanted to tell the other girl that Dana was not the queen and she really was. Why? It didn't matter the year I ran to them that much. They're going to make it a big deal with press releases. Dana's so embarassed she wants to homeschool the rest of her senior year. Dramatic girl, but still. Do we have to publicly flog her for someone else's mistake? They call it a counting error. How do you miscount? Did they run out of fingers and toes? Why even bother with this? Why now after it's completely over?

PUBLICITY

The festival is six weeks away. It doesn't draw the amount of tourism the pink coats believe it could. So let's humiliate this girl. If people think we are noble and happen to hear about it, maybe they will think about coming. If people think we are jerks and idiots, they will hear about it for sure and maybe drive out.

Nice.

I think Dana should take it as gracefully as possible. They hate that. It makes them remember they have a conscience. The less stink, the less free publicity. But they are stupid. And now I have good reason to mock them for those horrific magenta blazers, nasty polo shirts, and disgraceful white walking shoes.

I hope it rains on thier parade.

Slurpies for Everyone!

Actually, now I'm going to have to stop at a gas station and get a slurpee . . . . no . . . hit sonic for happy hour and slushes. Yep. Ok, moving on.

Ozzy says I HAVE to post this.

Having so many hormones gives a preson some crazy dreams! I have a nightmare about everyone I love going away about once a week, and poor Ozzy has to wake me up so I'll stop crying. Yuck. I also have SILLY dreams. I remembered one of the silliest from last night.

My mom, my dad, ozzy, grandma and grandpa B and I took a roller coster to Rexburg. The roller coster stopped in a furniture gallery. Mom was busy shopping for black carpeting. Grandma was shopping for a couch that grandpa said they didn't need. I took off. I wandered around Rexburg, which was completely deserted at 3am. I stopped by Trevor and Michelle's dorm. Trevor, Michelle, and 4 18 year old guys lived there. Then I went to the gas station in the car I somehow aquired. I got there and saw my dad talking to some scroungy looking guys. I decided they were homeless. All of the sudden, the guys took off running. My dad started chasing them in a gray union suit (long underwear) trying to give them slurpees that he had in his arms. I chased my dad, trying to explain that they didn't have to drink the slurpees and that he was in his underwear. Then I got back in the roller coster and woke up. Baby on my bladder. Time for the late night bathroom run! That part was real. :)

Sleepy

Ozzy says I'm so sleepy because I'm growing a baby. Okay. But I am SO SLEEPY! I don't get things done, I just want a nap!

REXBURG - was really fun. And cold. We are glad we don't live there. It was good to see my mom and let her be all excited about the baby. Depending on which weekend my grandparents decide to be in Idaho, there's a chance she could rent a car and come to the ultrasound on the 7th. That would be really cool. We got to see Trevor and Michelle's house and see Piper high on catnip too. Funny stuff, that. We went swimming. It made the baby freak out. It was funny and a little uncomfortable and bothersome because I like to swim. The chlorine made me itchy for three days, so maybe I won't be pregnant pool queen. We took Mandy's friend wedding dress shopping. This is a little crazy. She's not actually engaged yet. I can't talk, though, because I had no ring and had my hubby help me pick out a dress. So far, not bad luck. Knock on wood. Or whatever superstitious nonsense one must do. We also took the ski rack off the van and handed it over to Trevor for his car. Now I'll have to be embarassed or enraged when someone says, "nice rack". I gave them the benefit of the doubt before.

GRANDMA - I got your package. The pages are great. We had fun looking at them! Thanks for sending them. I'll have to remember and not fall asleep Friday. I could call you because I wouldn't be interrupting American Idol. Are you loving that show this season? It looks pretty good!

MOM - I think I'll call you tonight. I think my sweetheart has to stay late at work. I'm glad you got home okay. It was a pretty crazy trip. I hope your trip in July is not nearly that crazy.

BABY - We got a crib on Monday and set it up. Ok, Ozzy set it up while I took a nap (I'm not kidding about this excessive napping deal). It's cherry wood and really pretty. That evening, Becky brought us a crib mattress and green polka dot sheet to go with it. Cute stuff! I like to look at it. My baby can hear now, so we talk to it. Ozzy puts his face on the baby and talks to it at night. We don't actually know whether he is talking to the baby's head or bum, but I guess it doesn't matter. And why do I have to gain tenor twelve pounds for this 1/2 pound child? I'm sure uterus gunk. placenta, and water doesn't weigh that much . . . I guess it's close enough.

Looking Pregnant and Being a Grandma

Uncle Bryce always says I'm a grandma. He likes to tease Ozzy about chasing down an older woman. Their family came to see our house yesterday. I'm glad they did! It meant a lot to Ozzy that some of his family wanted to come and visit. It also gave me a chance to give them the hats I made for them. Uncle Bryce had seen me working on one and asked when "grandma was making mine!" I made his camo and fun colored ones for the girls. I couldn't decide what to make for Aunt Jess, so she told me to go with pink. I'll have to start that one in a week or two.

I have a funny story from school. Another second grade class came to my room for health for the first time in a couple months. They must have forgotten my news. A little girl raised her hand and said, "I don't mean to be rude, but you look kinda pregnant."
"That's because I am pregnant."
"Good, or we'd need a different health teacher!"
Good luck to all her future teachers! May they not be overweight!

We went to our new congregation for church Sunday. They were pretty friendly people, actually, but not pushy, gushy, or into all out business. We like friendly better than invisible, we decided. We'll get used to them. There are lots of older people, but there's a fair number of young families too, so we won't be weird. About time I wasn't weird, huh?

We're excited to go to Rexburg Saturday. I might be a bit uncomfortable on our way up, but I should be asleep when we come home. Ozzy just hopes we don't get pulled over. :) We did once, but we scored a warning! He hates cops. Go figure. I love that guy.

I did something silly yesterday. I went to the store on my way home to get stuff for tacos. I also got sonic slushes. We love em. I decided I wanted onion rings. I got home and ate them up. By the time I was dont making tacos, I wasn't hungry and I didn't want any. I love tacos! I'm excited to try to eat them again tonight, but I'm not sure my ozzy is. :)
