More Marshall, Lots More Marshall!

Here's the proud grandma with her first grandbaby! She LOVES him. Last night he slept pretty well. The last 2 1/2 hours I let him sleep on me because his nose was stuffy, so we didn't find grandma until almost 8 today. I think grandma was missing her Marshall time! This picture was taken . . . I think on Monday, so almost a week ago. Dang it.
This is Marshall's 1 week old picture on the duck blanket Grandma made for him. We'll take his picture on that blanket every Tuesday. Hopefully.
Daddy with his boy! We took this . . . after Tuesday sometime. The days are a little blurry from the waking up. Speaking of waking up, I think I hear him getting hungry, so I have to hurry!
This is Marshall today! Before his bath. Now he smells cuter. Babies smell cute. i don't know why. Want a funny story? Last night . . . at like 1 am, Ozzy was changing him and he called for me. I hauled myself into the nursery and Ozzy is freaking out. Our boy is pooping and peeing all over him while he's trying to change his diaper! Poor Ozzy. He almost threw up, I think. The night before, Marshall was sleeping on Ozzy and he peed all over him. Ozzy wondered why Marshall never pees on me. You don't use your kitchen for a bathroom, that's why. :) Why are all our funny stories about bodily functions? Maybe it's the sleep thing . . . .
Anyhow, we're excited for when more of you can come visit us!

Sleep Depravation or Hooray for Grandma!

Here's our boy at 3 days old! (Sorry, we haven't uploaded pictures in a few days. We're trying to remember to bring the camera downstairs!) We thought he looked funny in his little bitty carseat. Well, I guess to him it's a giant lazy boy. He LOVES that thing! If I have the presence of mind, I'm going to pop him in there one night when he's fussy and see if it calms him down!

Another 3 day old picture. Just think, he's even cuter now! Right now he's napping. This means I should probably be napping. It takes babies a couple weeks to learn night and day, so we're still learning to deal with interrupted sleep and play time at 3 am. Last night he did really well. He woke up every two hours to be fed and checked for messes. This made me sleepy, but he did go right back to sleep every time. Some nights he wants to stay up for 2 or 3 hours. Did you know that I l,ove Lucy and Leave it to Beaver are about your only non-paid-programming options at 4am? I guess there's an old sporting event on ESPN, but I'm trying to stay awake so I don't drop the poor thing! Luckily, grandma (my mom) is here for a few weeks and is an early riser, so when I'm sitting up with him and I hear her downstairs, we decide it's "grandma time". This gives Ozzy and I up to 4 hours of un-interrupted sleep! My boy likes to nap in the morning. Ozzy is good about getting up with him, changing him, and rocking him to sleep. I still have to get up, as the food supply. :) We love our boy and we REALLY love Grandma!
I'll post a pic of me with the baby soon. I still looked 6 months pregnant after he was born, and that's a little depressing. Normal, but still. Anyhow, Feeding him has made my belly slim down a lot and I look more like 3 or 4 months along. Woo hoo! I guess all that late night sleepy baby snuggling has to have a payoff, right?

Still preggo . . . .

I have the most amazing cervix. Still 2 and 50%.
The doctor says he doesn't know when the baby will decide to come out. It could be any day, or I could end up overdue. We're supposed to get a storm Sunday. Ozzy hopes that makes the baby decide to come out. Everyone pretty much wants him to hurry up and come out and play. I figure I haven't had enough discomfort yet, so he's going to stay in a little while longer. I am getting bored of being a big fat lady. Oh well. Nothing to do but wait, right?

Hey, but look what my Ozzy put on to cheer me up!

Ok, its really for the Scottish Festival we're going to Saturday. Maybe going somewhere a little far from our house will convince the baby to inconvenience us and decide to come so Ozzy can drive like a crazy man in a skirt . . . . KILT (sorry Kevin!)

June Bugs

I haven't been very exciting lately, so I haven't posted anything . . . which makes my blog boring, I know. Here are the updates.
School's out! I finished teaching on Friday. I like teaching . . . I do . . . I'm just tired. Being pregnant and teaching is . . . well, tiring. I'm recovering from being so tired and Ozzy's happy to be getting his wife back. Right baby? I'm at the school all this week packing and sorting. I don't want to store ALL my teaching stuff in my basement, so I have to go through EVERYTHING, packing what I want Ozzy to get for me on Thursday and creating a shopping mall of supplies for the other teachers to go through whenever. I'm about 2/3 done.
Baby is baking nicely. The warm weather is a little bothersome. I swell up easier and get hot a lot faster than I used to. I'm getting used to getting up in the night. I've discovered I can be up for less than an hour if I get a snack while I'm up. I'll have to post more prego pics for the fam soon.
I decided to scrapbook the baby's ultrasound pictures on Saturday night while Ozzy watched some fighting thingy. He decided to scrapbook too. This is his first scrapbook page!

He hid it under some paper in a box. It didn't quite turn out as he wanted. I told him not to worry, he can practice! I don't know if I've convinced him to turn into a scrapbooker, but hey, at least he's supportive of the habit!

doctor's office insanity, bushwhacking, and other tales

I went to the doctor Tuesday. My doctor wasn't there because he was busy delivering babies. This is good. Well, good that he was doing his job, crazy for the office staff. So, I got blood drawn for my glucose tolerance test first. That drink was nasty. I got a brand new nurse at the lab, so I'm sporting an impressive battle wound from that. I got my sample taken care of, weighed in (3 1/2 more pounds), gave a blood pressure reading and then sat in an office. The nurse came in and we listened to the baby. Then a midwife came in to talk about the kidney stone incident and tell me there was glucose in my sample. I drank a whole bottle of glucose. Oh. So that was okay too. All in all it was a very long doctor visit. I've decided my doctor is very efficient.

Then we went to Ozzy's parents' house to harass that new baby and everyone else there. He is a screamer. Apparently bath time is not high on his hot list. That baby was angry! Ozzy still says he's really excited for our own screamer to come out and play. We hijacked all the people from that house and followed them to his aunt's house where we scored a free piano! Woo hoo! I hadn't played a note in at least 5 months, so it was pretty exciting for me. It was on wheels . . . that didn't actually roll, so I owe Ozzy, his mom, and his dad big time. It was a big job to get it moved into our living room! It's a little console piano, so it fits right behind the couch. I put the back of the piano to the couch so it wouldn't block the big picture window and so I could use all that nice light when I play. It has a couple of keys that need the action worked on and a tuning, but we'll get to that some other time. It's playable! Yay!

We are trying to reclaim our yard. The previous owner didn't even mow it. Ozzy's grass seed is coming up pretty well on the east side of the front lawn. That's what needed the most help. I am trimming back huge pokey bushes that I think will actually look good when they leaf out. We keep trying to start seeds and plant them in the gardens, but it keeps snowing at random. There was snow this morning. It's not like we live in Canada!

We bought a lawn mower. I think it might get its turn to shine this weekend. The back yard is going to seed, which may not be a bad thing, considering the bald patches where deer spent the winter!

I will post pictures. I fully intend to do it. Just today I considered letting one of my students snap a shot of my round self, but thought better of it. Maybe I'll make Ozzy do it tonight. Hey, there's a chance.

Where are the pictures?

On my kitchen counter. This week has been absolutely crazy. Last week was parent teacher conferences (absolutely crazy) which meant I was at the school. A lot. Not home. Sleeping. Where I wanted to be. This week we had some of those sit and listen for teachers classes Monday (teachers are not good at sitting and listening) and on Tuesday we had yuck. There are three of us who teach second grade at our school and the two of us get along great. One has been very unhappy all year for various personal reasons common to single girls and the internet. In addition, she just isn't too happy about being here in Utah and would like to be elsewhere. This, of course, impacts her job and sometimes us. She's not a person who is easygoing/approachable, so we ended up having a meeting with her and two administrators. She came and yelled at me. Yikes. So that made Tuesday completely unpleasant. I was in no mood to post an appropriate, fair, or even very interesting blog.
After that, I've just had the aftermath of missed parent teacher conferences and trying to make nice. Exhausting, actually.
Ozzy has had quite the week as well. He had to take his recently fixed car back to the dealer Monday because they forgot to complete their job and has been stuck working late every day this week. Wednesday he only had to stay a half hour late. Tuesday I took him dinner at work and hung out with him. We were there until 9! The poor man has had to work A LOT this week.
So, there are your excuses. With a little luck and a miracle on behalf of the pregnant brain, I'll take photos of the photos and bring them to school Monday and post them. No promises. Breaking them is mean.
The baby continues to kick and punch and squirm. It's funny if Ozzy and I are snuggling and the baby kicks hard enough he feels it against his tummy. Pow!
And what is with KK going to New York? Is he really going? Is it for more than a girl? These are burning questions. Ozzy wants to know how KK's going to marry Anna if he goes to New York for Ruth! We keep trying to explain that Fat William's supposed to marry her . . . (that was just for you, Dana and Tori!)

if i have to

Hubby gave me a ring at lunch today (I know! He's totally sweet!) and told me he was e-mailing me pictures from his phone to put on my blog . . . . and I needed to put them up. I love you. I'll send some to myself of you . . . tee hee hee! Here are the pictures. The first one is a little dramatic looking. I was hiding from the camera. The second one has an ocean theme . . . I'm being lazy at his parents' house (Hi Kevin and Becky!). No, I wasn't wearing clamshells. This is Utah, silly!

rock it like you mean it . . .

You know I have a tendancy to risk some outfits that are just a little bit too much. Well, my husband, it turns out, doesn't mind being a little bit flashy himself! He sent these to me . . . all by his handsome self . . . to put up for the world to see! Well, the part of the world I like, anyway. Thanks, sweetheart! Above, we have the Mr. and Mrs. as doodlebops. You gotta love the Halloween isle! Here's my hubby in a historic photo. He has placed his head into one of those squishy baby chairs that have been recalled. I think he decided that end fit better . . . isn't he cute?
